Important Information for Booking Tatkal Tickets

When can a ticket be booked under Tatkal quota?

One day before the start of the train from its point of origin.

Timing

For AC classes, booking starts at 10:00 AM

For Non-AC classes, booking starts at 11:00 AM

Cancellation

Tatkal tickets cannot be cancelled except in the following circumstances.

• Train is late by more than three hours
• Route taken by the train is changed or diverted
• Berth allotted is of a class lower than the class applied for

Full refund is given in the above circumstances.

Charges

For premium trains like Shatabdi and Rajdhani, tatkal charges are dynamic based on the demand and supply rule. This means if the demand is high, a higher price is charged. This rule is under revision and is expected to change.

For non-premium trains, tatkal charge for 2nd class is 10% of the basic fare and for other classes it is 30% of the basic fare.
