Tatkal tickets cannot be cancelled except in the following circumstances.

For premium trains like Shatabdi and Rajdhani, tatkal charges are dynamic based on the demand and supply rule. This means if the demand is high, a higher price is charged. This rule is under revision and is expected to change.
For non-premium trains, tatkal charge for 2nd class is 10% of the basic fare and for other classes it is 30% of the basic fare.
